Citing witnesses who were with Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran at the time of his killing, senior Hamas official Khalil Al-Hayya said that the missile that killed Haniyeh struck him “directly”.

As a result of the missile strike, windows, doors and walls in his room were destroyed, Al-Hayya tells a press conference in Tehran.

Al-Hayya said that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh represents an attempt by the Israeli occupation to advance after failing to achieve its objectives.

"Ismail Haniyeh was not in a secret or obscure location; his assassination is not an intelligence achievement,” al-Hayya said, adding that Haniyeh “died under exceptional circumstances and will be missed by his people and the nation.”

He praised Haniyeh’s dedication, stating, "Ismail Haniyeh gave his life for his religion and his homeland."

"We have no choice but resistance, which is unified." Hayya also indicated that "the enemy wants to annex the West Bank and hand it over to extremist Zionists."

Additionally, Hayya announced that the movement is awaiting a full investigation by Iranian authorities into Haniyeh’s assassination.
