Friday, Israeli Occupation Forces detained Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the 84-year-old Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, from his home in the Al-Sowanah neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The arrest follows allegations from Israeli Occupation authorities that Sabri’s eulogy for Ismail Haniyeh, delivered in Al-Aqsa Mosque, was inflammatory.

The Israeli Occupation police have stated that they are investigating whether Sabri’s sermon constituted "incitement" and the 84-year-old Imam will be interrogated.

Additionally, Israeli Occupation authorities reported the arrest of another individual in the Aqsa Mosque compound for allegedly making inciting statements during prayer.

Hebrew media sources revealed that the Israeli Occupation Minister of Interior has called for the revocation of Sheikh Sabri’s "Jerusalemite" residency status following the Friday prayers and the eulogy for Haniyeh.

In response to the Minister’s call, some settlers have circulated calls to attack Sabri’s home in Jerusalem, even providing its coordinates.
