A high-level Israeli delegation, consisting of the heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet, arrived in Egypt on Saturday to advance negotiations on a prisoner exchange deal, Axios reported.

The Israeli delegation’s trip to Cairo was necessitated by a push from the US to continue discussions on the deal.

The delegation is set to meet with the head of Egyptian intelligence and military leaders to address security arrangements related to the Philadelphi Corridor.

Israeli officials told Hebrew newspaper Haaretz that “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may not be inclined to finalize the deal.

Families of the detainees voiced their concerns over reports suggesting that Netanyahu might withdraw from the deal.

They have described the situation as "alarming" and emphasized that the detainees should not be disregarded.
