The Public Security Directorate, in a statement, reiterated the importance of rejecting the use of firearms during events and protecting the community by reporting those who engage in such practices. The Directorate urges the public to avoid events where gunfire is present.

It highlighted a significant decrease in celebratory gunfire, which have previously resulted in injuries and fatalities. This reduction is attributed to community rejection, increased awareness of the dangers, and substantial cooperation and partnerships aimed at combating these incidents at various celebrations, including weddings and graduation ceremonies.

A WhatsApp number (0790196196) has been designated for reporting gunfire and other inappropriate practices such as convoy parades during events. The public is encouraged to send messages, photos, and videos through this number. Additionally, the emergency number 911 remains available for all situations.

Since the beginning of this summer, the Public Security Directorate has implemented an awareness campaign to curb this issue, complemented by security measures to enforce the law against offenders.

This includes deploying patrols in civilian and military outfits and taking precautionary actions to prevent incidents. In the event that such practices occur, offenders and the firearms used will be apprehended and referred to the judiciary.
