His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized the need for de-escalation and a comprehensive ceasefire during a phone call with U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday – a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) said.

His Majesty stressed that an immediate and permanent halt to the violence and resolution of the crisis in Gaza is essential for safeguarding regional security and preventing further conflict.

His Majesty highlighted the importance of ceasing all escalatory measures and adhering to international law with consistent standards.

He also warned about the dangers posed by extremist settlers' actions against Palestinians and unilateral measures that undermine peace efforts and target the historical and legal status of holy sites in Jerusalem, which could exacerbate regional violence.

King Abdullah II underscored the crucial role of the United States in ending the Gaza conflict and pushing for a prompt and enduring ceasefire, while also advocating for a genuine political horizon for achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution – the statement added.

In response, President Biden expressed gratitude for King Abdullah’s efforts towards peace and stability, reaffirming the United States' unwavering support for Jordan. The call also addressed ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries and expand cooperation across various sectors.
