Two US destroyers, the USS Laboon and USS Cole, have moved from the Gulf of Oman to the Red Sea in recent days, bringing them closer to the Israeli Occupation amid rising tensions between the Tel Aviv, Tehran, and their proxies, according to a US defense official.

These destroyers are part of a broader deployment of US assets strategically positioned across the region, as concerns grow that Iran may soon launch a major attack on the Israeli Occupation for the second time this year. In April, US destroyers helped intercept ballistic missiles and drones fired by Iran at the Israeli Occupation.

The repositioning of the destroyers follows an order by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who on Friday directed adjustments to the US military posture in the Middle East.

This included the deployment of additional cruisers and destroyers capable of countering ballistic missile threats to the US European Command and Central Command regions, according to Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.

Meanwhile, the amphibious ready group, which includes the USS Wasp, USS New York, and USS Oak Hill, remains in the eastern Mediterranean along with around 2,500 Marines. They are prepared to assist in a non-combatant evacuation of US citizens from Lebanon if needed.

Two additional destroyers, the USS Roosevelt and USS Bulkeley, are also in the eastern Mediterranean. The USS Roosevelt carrier strike group, currently in the Gulf of Oman, is set to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln strike group soon.
