Meta apologized on Tuesday for removing content from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's Facebook and Instagram accounts related to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of Hamas, last week in Tehran.

A company spokesperson told Reuters that the content has since been restored "with the correct newsworthiness label."

Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated by Israeli Occupation Forces while in Tehran to attend the inauguration of Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, following a meeting with Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
