In a phone call today, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the necessary steps to halt the dangerous escalation in the region.

The ministers reviewed the recent discussions between His Majesty King Abdullah II and U.S. President Joe Biden on reducing tensions and achieving a comprehensive de-escalation to prevent a broader regional war – according to the statement by the Foreign Ministry.

Safadi emphasized that halting the “Israeli” aggression on Gaza and addressing the humanitarian crisis in the Strip is the first step toward ending the tensions and escalation threatening regional and international security and peace.

He also stressed the need to stop “Israeli” actions in the West Bank that undermine all prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.
