Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi discussed regional and international efforts to halt the “Israeli” aggression on Gaza with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

In a phone call, they emphasized the need for an immediate and permanent cease-fire to end the devastation caused by the aggression in Gaza – per the Foreign Ministry's statement.

The two ministers addressed the implications of the ongoing aggression, including the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau, and the attacks on Lebanon. They also discussed steps required to prevent the region from descending into a broader regional conflict.

Safadi praised Russia's clear stance against the aggression in Gaza and its support for the Palestinian people's right to freedom and an independent, sovereign state based on a two-state solution.

The ministers also covered various regional and international issues, as well as bilateral relations.
