Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, 25, won the gold medal in the women's 66kg final boxing match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Khelif delivered a stunning performance against her opponent, Yang Li from China.

Khelif’s journey to the gold medal was not without challenges. The 25-year-old boxer faced intense competition and widespread slander throughout the tournament but demonstrated remarkable resilience and technique. 

The win also comes as a form of redemption for Khelif. Earlier in her career, she was denied the opportunity to face Yang Li in the World Championship final due to an “unjust” decision by the International Boxing Association. 

The Paris 2024 Olympics provided her with a chance to set the record straight.
