On Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the execution of Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Qneian for committing acts of treason and sympathizing with detainees involved in terrorism cases.

According to the statement by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Qneian had praised the leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist organization and supported extremist ideologies.

The ministry's statement detailed that Al-Qneian, a Saudi national, was arrested on January 5, 2021 (22/6/1442 Hijri) based on security information. He was charged with actions that betrayed his country, supported terrorism, and praised terrorist acts.

Following a thorough investigation by the Public Prosecution and a trial at the Specialized Criminal Court, he was found guilty and sentenced to death. This sentence was upheld by both the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court.

The Ministry confirmed that the execution was carried out on August 10, 2024 (6/2/1446 Hijri) in Riyadh.
