A senior Hamas official has criticized the latest American proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying it aligns with and accommodates “Israeli” demands.

The official stated that Hamas has informed mediators of the results of the Doha talks, noting that “Israel” does not genuinely seek an agreement.

In statements to Al-Jazeera, they added that “Israel” continues to evade and obstruct negotiations by insisting on adding new conditions to delay the agreement, urging mediators to pressure Tel Aviv to adhere to the agreed terms.

Hamas reiterated that any agreement must ensure an end to “Israeli” assault and a withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

According to the Hamas official, the agreement must also include provisions for urgent humanitarian relief and a concrete prisoner exchange deal.

The movement reaffirmed its commitment to the terms agreed upon on July 2, based on the declaration by US President Joe Biden and the UN Security Council resolution.
