Dr. Raed Al-Shboul, the Secretary-General of Epidemiological Affairs at the Ministry of Health, provided new details on Jordan's first reported case of West Nile Fever.

The patient, a 6-year-old girl, has since recovered and is reported to be in good health following medical treatment.

The case was confirmed on July 29, 2024, in central laboratories.

Shboul reassured the public that West Nile Fever is not a significant public health threat as it does not spread from person to person.

The Ministry of Health has a strong surveillance program in place to detect and diagnose such cases.

Shboul highlighted that the Ministry has prepared a comprehensive plan to manage West Nile Fever.

This plan includes disease awareness, monitoring the local epidemiological situation, and readiness to respond.

It also involves collaboration with national institutions to intensify mosquito control and vector management efforts.

Shboul emphasized that the situation is under control and that the Ministry is well-equipped to handle such cases effectively.
