“Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office released a readout of his three-hour-meeting today with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The statement said “Israel” supports the current American Gaza ceasefire proposal, which was described as a “bridging” one, after it was presented to “Israel” and Hamas after the latest summit that took place in Doha, Qatar last week.

“The Prime Minister reiterated Israel’s commitment to the current American proposal on the release of our hostages, which takes into account Israel’s security needs, which he strongly insists on,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement – cited by “The Times of Israel”.

It added that the meeting was “positive” and was conducted in a “good atmosphere”

Blinken is scheduled to meet “Israeli” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in Tel Aviv shortly later today.

Hamas rejected the latest proposal put forward by the mediators in Doha, in a statement released yesterday.

After communication with the mediators, Hamas said it became clear that “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “once again continuing to obstruct the path to an agreement, imposing new conditions and demands aimed at sabotaging the mediators' efforts and prolonging the war.”

The new ceasefire proposal put forward “aligns with Netanyahu's conditions, particularly his rejection of a permanent ceasefire, his refusal to fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip, and his insistence on maintaining control over the Netzarim Junction, Rafah Crossing, and the Philadelphi Corridor.”

Hamas said the movement accepted the mediators' previous proposal on May 6, 2024 in addition to the one put forward on July 2, 2024.
