The Public Security Directorate (PSD) issued a warning about a recent increase in staged traffic accidents in Jordan. The primary cause of these incidents is identified as the improper handling of turns on outer roads.

Perpetrators often claim that their vehicle has been struck or feigned being hit by throwing themselves in front of a slow-moving vehicle.

These actions are aimed at obtaining compensation from the other party without filing an official report.

In some cases, individuals may also organize fabricated accidents with others to receive compensation from insurance companies.

The PSD urges citizens to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the emergency hotline 911.

It is crucial to avoid accepting any monetary offers to waive rights in the aftermath of an accident and to personally verify the situation by contacting the emergency services.

- Legal consequences -

The PSD emphasized that staged accidents are considered fraudulent crimes under Jordanian law.

Offenders face up to three years in prison and a fine ranging from JD 100 to JD 200.
