Hamas said today that its delegation departed Cairo this Sunday evening after meeting with Egyptian and Qatari mediators to discuss the outcomes of the latest round of ceasefire negotiations.

The Hamas delegation demanded that “Israel” be held accountable for the agreements reached on July 2, which are based on President Biden’s speech and the UN Security Council resolution – per a statement from senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq.

Hamas reaffirmed its readiness to implement the agreed-upon terms in a manner that serves the best interests of the Palestinian people and halts the aggression against them – the statement added.

The delegation reiterated the movement’s stance that any agreement must include a permanent ceasefire, a full withdrawal from Gaza, the freedom for residents to return to their homes, as well as provisions for relief, reconstruction, and a “serious” prisoner exchange deal.
