British human rights activist and social media influencer Sarah Wilkinson was arrested by UK police on Aug. 29, reportedly over online content she posted.

Wilkinson has been a vocal critic of Israeli Occupation actions in Gaza and participated in the "Freedom Flotilla Coalition" earlier this year, which attempted to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. In February 2024, she appeared as a guest on Roya’s "Nabd Al-Balad," where she expressed solidarity with Palestine.

Jack Wilkinson, her brother, said that the police arrived at her home around 7:30 AM with a team of 12 officers, including some from counter-terrorism, and seized her electronic devices during the raid.

MENA Uncensored, a social media account, said Wilkinson was detained for her support of Palestinian resistance adding that she was accused of supporting “terrorism.” The UK police had not issued an official statement regarding the arrest.

Wilkinson’s arrest follows the recent detention of Syrian-British journalist Richard Medhurst, who was questioned by UK police under the Terrorism Act. This incident adds to a pattern of harassment faced by journalists reporting critically on international conflicts.

The arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in Paris, facing multiple charges, also highlights ongoing tensions over information sharing related to the Gaza aggression.
