The Independent Election Commission (IEC) reported that security forces arrested a masked individual who fired shots into the air during the opening of an election headquarters for a candidate in the Karak electoral district.

The commission stated that the incident occurred while the candidate was delivering his opening speech, and one of his supporters fired the shots as a show of support.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the IEC noted that security forces apprehended the shooter moments after the incident.

The commission emphasized that such actions are a clear violation of electoral conduct, as they contradict the executive regulations governing election campaigns.

The commission also highlighted the importance of citizens' role in maintaining the integrity of the elections by preventing any violations, urging anyone with information or evidence of electoral crimes to report it immediately to the relevant authorities.

The IEC reiterated that it will continue to take all necessary legal measures to ensure free and fair elections that accurately reflect the will of the voters.
