US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has revealed that intensive efforts are underway to secure a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which includes the deployment of peacekeeping forces without the involvement of American troops.

Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated that the US is working diligently on the deal, emphasizing that the proposed agreement would involve peacekeeping forces without direct American intervention.

Negotiations have been ongoing for several months, mediated by Egypt and Qatar with US support, aiming to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza. However, progress has been slow.

One of the main sticking points remains the Philadelphi Route, where 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists on keeping military forces, while Hamas demands a full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

Earlier Monday, Netanyahu declared that achieving the war's objectives in Gaza "depends on the Philadelphi Route," vowing that the military "will never withdraw from it."

Criticism has mounted against Netanyahu, with security officials, opposition figures, and families of captives accusing him of delaying a deal with Hamas due to concerns that it could destabilize his ruling coalition. Far-right ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, have threatened to withdraw from the government if a ceasefire agreement is reached.
