The second Arab Open Fishing Championship kicked off in Aqaba on Friday, featuring 10 Arab teams and the Silver Jubilee Open Fishing Championship with 35 local teams.

The event is organized by the Royal Marine Sports Federation in collaboration with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and the Arab Diving and Rescue Federation.

Participants from five countries—Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, and Jordan—set out early Friday to catch the largest and most diverse fish from the Gulf of Aqaba.

Mohammad Al-Maghrabi, head of the Royal Marine Sports Federation, announced that over 25 professional anglers are competing. Fish caught will be weighed and displayed in a special market for visitors and fishing enthusiasts.

The championship will conclude on Saturday evening with a ceremony to honor the top competitors and all participants.
