Former Prime Minister Samir Rifai cast his vote in the parliamentary elections for the 20th House of Representatives.

Rifai expressed pride in participating in Jordan's first elections held under party lists and with reserved seats for parties.

He described this as a significant national achievement following the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, constitutional amendments, and approval by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, with the endorsement of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

He noted that these elections will feature 30 percent of seats reserved for parties, increasing to 50 percent and eventually 65 percent in future elections.

Rifai anticipated that citizens would see changes in parliamentary life from the very first day after the elections.

He stressed that political parties should present realistic and convincing programs, avoid populism, and ensure that their impact on citizens’ lives is transparent and measurable.
