The Jordanian government has announced a public holiday on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, in celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s day of birth.

All ministries, public institutions, universities, municipalities, and government-owned companies will observe the holiday.

The occasion, which falls on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal in the Islamic calendar, is marked by Muslims worldwide as a time of reflection on the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.

Many Islamic nations commemorate the day with religious ceremonies, including recitations of praises and sermons in mosques.
