“Israeli” Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi announced his intention to resign by the end of December, following mounting criticism over the military's response to the October 7 infiltration by Palestinian resistance groups.

According to reports from Anadolu Agency, Halevi’s planned resignation is linked to the ongoing investigations into the military’s failure to effectively address the October 7 breach.

“Israeli” Channel 12 has noted that Halevi’s resignation is contingent upon the results of these investigations and the military's readiness for potential escalations with Lebanon.

Halevi's resignation follows the recent departure of several senior officials.

Brigadier General Yossi Sariel, the head of the “Israeli” army’s intelligence Unit 8200, resigned earlier this month, citing his inability to prevent the October 7 incident as the primary reason.

Additionally, Brigadier General Avi Rosenfeld, who led the Gaza Division, and the head of the Shin Bet security agency’s Southern District, announced his resignation as well earlier in June.

The “Israeli” military experienced significant turnover in recent months, with other notable resignations including a senior intelligence officer from the Gaza Division.

Additionally, Tamir Yadai, the chief of the “Israeli” army’s ground forces, stepped down on 3 September, citing "personal reasons" after three years in the role.
