A collision between two trains occurred in Zagazig, located in the Sharqia governorate northeast of Cairo, on Saturday.

The accident resulted in 29 injuries and 3 fatalities, according to the latest report from the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

The Egyptian National Railways Authority reported that a passenger train traveling from Zagazig to Ismailia collided with another passenger train coming from Mansoura to Zagazig at Block 5 in Zagazig.

Emergency services and civil defense units rushed to the scene, with local residents also arriving to assist. Around 20 ambulances were deployed to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, as reported by Egyptian media.

The Minister of Transport has ordered the deployment of emergency equipment and the formation of a committee of railway specialists to investigate the technical reasons behind the incident, according to a statement from the Egyptian National Railways Authority.
