The “Israel” Security Agency, Shin bet (or Shabak), said it had foiled an attempt by Lebanese group Hezbollah to assassinate a former senior “Israeli” security official.

The attack, planned using a remotely detonated explosive device, was intended to have been carried out in the coming days – as claimed in the Shin Bet’s statement cited by “The Times of Israel”.

The device was a Claymore-style anti-personnel mine, and included a camera and a cellular connection, allowing for Hezbollah to remotely detonate the bomb.

The statement did not name the targeted official, but said he was notified by security officials of the incident.
