The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in the strongest terms the ongoing and systematic targeting of civilians and shelters housing displaced Palestinians in Gaza after the latest attack that struck a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza City, killing over 21 people and injuring dozens.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry reaffirmed Jordan's condemnation and rejection of the occupation's persistent violations of international law, including international humanitarian law and the 1949 Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians during wartime.

Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Qudah emphasized the need to ensure the protection of civilians, vital infrastructure providing essential services to Palestinians, as well as humanitarian facilities and shelters, which international law mandates must be safeguarded.

The ambassador renewed his call for the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take immediate and decisive action to halt “Israeli” war crimes and provide protection for Palestinian civilians.

He stressed that international silence only emboldens the entity to continue committing further atrocities, exacerbating the suffering of the Palestinian people – per the statement.
