When will day and night be equal in Jordan?

As the autumn equinox in Jordan will take place at 3:43 PM tomorrow, Sunday, this phenomenon occurs in the Northern Hemisphere simultaneously with the spring equinox in the Southern Hemisphere, indicating that both events take place at the same time, while accounting for time zone differences and varying geographical locations.

The astronomical fall will continue until the winter solstice, which will occur at 12:20 PM on Saturday, December 21, lasting approximately 89 days, 20 hours, and 37 minutes, according to Dr. Omar Al-Sakaji, president of the Jordanian Astronomical Society.

For Jordan, the time difference between the equinox and the equalization of day and night has been calculated to be four days, meaning that Thursday, September 26, will be the day when daylight and nighttime hours are equal in Amman and its suburbs, as noted by Al-Sakaji.

At the moment of the equinox, the sun is directly above the equator, leading to nearly equal distribution of solar radiation between the two hemispheres. During this time, the Earth's axis is perpendicular to the sun's rays, minimizing shadow lengths at the equator. The sun rises in the geographical east and sets in the geographical west, resulting in nearly equal hours of day and night, not considering atmospheric effects.

However, due to light interactions with atmospheric components such as refraction and scattering, there is a delay in the day when daylight and nighttime hours are equal.
