The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has arrested 19 drug dealers and traffickers in a series of operations across various governorates in Jordan.
According to a statement for the Public Security Directorate (PSD), AND officers have intensified efforts to crack down on all forms of drug-related activities, targeting traffickers and dealers in a number of high-profile cases over the past few days.
One of the major operations took place in Mafraq Governorate, where four individuals involved in drug trafficking were arrested after a thorough intelligence operation.
Authorities seized 20,000 narcotic pills from their possession. In a separate case in Mafraq, two more traffickers were apprehended, and authorities confiscated 21 slabs of hashish and 5,000 pills.
A targeted security campaign in Mafraq led to the arrest of five additional suspects wanted for drug trafficking and promotion.
In East Amman, a special security operation was launched, resulting in the arrest of five individuals involved in drug-related crimes. Various quantities of narcotics were found in their possession.
In another case in Amman, a known drug dealer was arrested with 700 grams of crystal meth.
In the governorate of Zarqa, a high-risk individual wanted for multiple drug-related offenses was captured.
The final case involved the arrest of a crystal meth trafficker in Irbid, where half a kilogram of the deadly drug was seized.
All suspects have been referred to the State Security Court's prosecutor for further legal action.
