The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said on Tuesday that Civil Defense firefighters in central and western Amman extinguished a fire that broke out in the storage room of a five-storey apartment building that contains electric tools in Khalda.

He added that the team quickly put out the flames that resulted in a dense smoke, which led the teams to evacuate the building.

A total of 50 people were evacuated from the building and paramedics gave medical assistance to 20 others who experienced breathing complications.

The spokesperson said that only two people required hospitalization.

An investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the fire.
