The government decision to end the workday for employees early on Monday resulted in traffic congestions lasting several hours across various streets of the capital, Amman.

Drivers caught in traffic jams expressed anger over the haphazard and delayed decision-making process without prior planning, despite prior knowledge of the arrangements for the return of the national football team from Qatar this afternoon.

The official decision to end the workday came in two stages, with news at 10:00 am about an "anticipated statement from the Prime Minister ending work at 2:00 pm" instead of 3:30 pm. Then the statement was later on issued to end work at 2:00 pm in preparation for welcoming the Jordanian champions.

About 15 minutes later, an update was released to include the private sector in the early closure decision, causing confusion in the capital's streets and severe congestion.

Jordanians eagerly anticipate the return of their national team today after their participation in the Asian Cup. The government has organized a massive public celebration at the Amman International Stadium following the reception of the team members and supporting squads at Queen Alia International Airport.
