“Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the comments of Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in which he drew a comparison between the Israeli Occupation aggression against Gaza and Holocaust.

“[His remarks] crossed a red line,” said Netanyahu, “The words of the president of Brazil are shameful and alarming…This is about trivializing the Holocaust and trying to harm the Jewish people and Israel’s right to defend itself.”

The Israeli Occupation summoned the Brazilian envoy for “stern reprimand”. The decision was made by Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Israel Katz.

"What's happening in the Gaza Strip isn't a war, it's a genocide," Lula told reporters earlier in Addis Ababa where he was attending the 37th African Union summit in Ethiopia.

"It's not a war of soldiers against soldiers. It's a war between a highly prepared army and women and children," he added.

"What's happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people hasn't happened at any other moment in history. Actually, it has happened: when Hitler decided to kill the Jews."
