The United States has exercised their veto powers (for the third time) in the United Nations Security council against an Algerian-proposed Gaza ceasefire resolution.
The Arab-backed resolution demanded an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
The United States announced beforehand that it would veto the resolution.

The resolution, which demanded "an immediate humanitarian ceasefire that should be respected by all parties," garnered support from 13 Security Council members, with one member objecting and another abstaining, the latter being the British representative.
