French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné affirmed his country's opposition to any “Israeli” military operation in Rafah, Gaza as demanded by the Security Council for a ceasefire.

In the trilateral ministerial meeting held in Egypt on Saturday, he stated that the expansion of settlements in the West Bank violates international law, and France will take measures against settlers.

Séjourné added that border crossings into the Gaza Strip must be opened for aid to be delivered.

He continued by emphasizing that the two-state solution is the basis for a permanent and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian cause.
