Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi received a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken today, focusing on efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure the entry of sufficient aid to the Strip, including through Jordan.

Safadi affirmed that Jordan is capable of sending hundreds of trucks to Gaza daily once the northern border crossings are opened and the United Nations and its organizations are enabled to receive and distribute aid.

Safadi emphasized the necessity of opening all crossings to allow the entry of aid to address the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the war and the obstacles hindering the delivery and distribution of aid in Gaza.

He also stressed the importance of halting the “Israeli” aggression on Gaza and warned of the catastrophic consequences of launching an offensive on the southern border city of Rafah.

Safadi and Blinken prioritized removing all obstacles to the entry of sufficient and immediate aid to Gaza.

The two parties also discussed a number of bilateral issues, in addition to regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
