Jordanian authorities have closed today the offices of Al-Yarmouk TV channel - affiliated with Islamism- and referred its executives to the public prosecutor on charges of broadcasting from Jordan with no official permission.

A source close to the relevant authorities reported that the public prosecutor decided to close Al-Yarmouk due to its unauthorized activity and broadcasting from Jordan without obtaining official governmental approvals.

Sources close to the channel's staff told Roya that security agencies seized broadcasting equipment and prevented employees from entering the channel, which employs about 25 people. The security agencies based their decision to close and seize assets on a written order from the public prosecutor.

Al-Yarmouk channel has previously faced closure several times, most notably in 2014.
