The Moroccan authorities permitted an “Israeli” warship to dock in the port of Tangier for refueling and resupplying, several news outlets confirmed.

The “Israeli” vessel, the INS Komemiyut, was en route from the US to “Israel” and sought port access in Morocco after being denied entry by Spain.

The National Action Group for Palestine in Morocco condemned the move, calling it a “violation of national sovereignty” and demanded an urgent investigation to hold those responsible accountable.

“This decision shows disrespect and insults the feelings of Moroccans; it is a flagrant violation of the constitution, and a blatant attack on Moroccan culture and heritage,” the group asserted.

The timing of this incident coincides with the Houthi efforts to block “Israeli” ships from passing through Bab Al-Mandab and the Red Sea.

Spain had also recently denied docking permission to ships carrying weapons to “Israel”, aligning with international conventions and court rulings.

“The Middle East does not need more weapons, it needs more peace,” stated Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.

The docking is seen as a deepening of cooperation between “Israel” and Morocco, a claim supported by informed sources and ship records.

In Morocco, the decision has sparked significant backlash, with pro-Palestine activists organizing vigils and marches in various cities.

Mohamed El-Ghafry, coordinator of the Moroccan Front Against Normalization, criticized the docking as participation in the genocide of the Palestinian people and support for “Israeli” aggression in Gaza.

Weekly protests against normalization with “Israel” have been a recurring event in Morocco since October 7.
