Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated that the IMF's inflation outlook for the United States is more optimistic than that of the Federal Reserve. Georgieva predicted that the Federal Reserve would reduce interest rates once this year.

Georgieva attributed the optimism regarding inflation to the significant increase in consumer spending following the pandemic, noting that this surge is likely starting to wane. She emphasized that the inflation trajectory in the US boosts the IMF's confidence that it will return to the Federal Reserve's target of 2% by 2025, compared to the Federal Reserve's own forecast of 2026.

Georgieva indicated that there is a possibility of a single interest rate cut in the US in 2024, with potential additional cuts in 2025, provided there is clear evidence of inflation stabilizing at 2%.
