U.S. President Joe Biden is likely to drop out of the presidential race as soon as this weekend, as the rising pressure of party congressional leaders and close friends will persuade him to cancel his campaign – according to several top Democrats speaking to Axios.

Biden, 81 years old, who is now self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19, is still adamant on staying in the race, according to a senior aide.

"If the facts matter — and they should — here is one: President Biden is the Democratic nominee and he is going to win this November,” The Biden-Harris campaign tells us said in statements.

Democrats are citing mounting pressure, bad polls, and untenable scrutiny which makes it impossible for Biden to continue his campaign – as public perceptions of his age and mindfulness make it difficult for him to win.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly told President Joe Biden in a private conversation that polls indicated he might not be able to defeat his Republican rival Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election, which could jeopardize the Democrats' chances of winning a majority in the next House of Representatives, according to CNN.

A source familiar with the call stated that Biden rejected Pelosi's concerns, citing polls showing his potential to win. Another source mentioned that Biden became defensive about the poll results.

These developments followed a report by The Washington Post, which indicated that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer separately informed Biden last week that his continued candidacy could endanger the Democratic Party's control over either chamber of Congress.

Biden stated earlier that he will withdraw from the presidential race if doctors find any health issues.

In an interview with BET News, excerpts of which were aired on Tuesday, Biden responded to a question about whether anything, including family members, could make him reconsider staying in the race.

Biden said, "If I develop some disease and I have to resign, that's my single condition."
