The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority and Jordan Water Company - Miyahuna announced a temporary shutdown of the Disi water system due to an attack on a main air vent in the Jafr area on Monday evening.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said technical crews and maintenance teams began repairing the damage on Tuesday morning. The attack, which broke the main air vent, caused significant water leakage, affecting some areas of the capital, Amman. The repair work required a complete stoppage of water pumping.

The ministry warned that this attack on a crucial water source would reduce water quotas for some areas and might deprive others of sufficient water until repairs are completed. It pledged to work with security authorities to apprehend the attackers and stressed its commitment to strict measures despite ongoing incidents along the 350-kilometer line from Mudawara to Amman.

Affected areas include parts of Al-Baniyat, Al-Muqabaleen, Al-Yasmeen, Abu Sayyah village, Khalid village, Al-Mughayrat, Al-Manara, Al-Harsha, Aden neighborhood, parts of Al-Rusaifa district, Al-Marqab, Abu Alanda, Al-Dahima, Al-Samou Al-Tarbawi, parts of Tlaa Al-Ali, Khalda, Deir Ghbar, and Abdoun.

The ministry and Miyahuna assured that maintenance teams are working diligently to repair the damage and resume water pumping, expected by Tuesday afternoon, and called for public cooperation and understanding of the emergency situation.
