A Palestinian man was found dead in Antwerp's Stadspark in Belgium with his hands and feet bound, sparking speculation about the cause of his death, Middle East Monitor reported.

A passerby discovered the body in a grassy area of the park last Wednesday. Belgian media reports indicate that the man had likely been deceased for more than 24 hours.

Although no identification documents were found, he was later identified as a 26-year-old Palestinian, who was reportedly an asylum seeker rather than a resident.

The discovery of the man’s tied limbs led many to suspect foul play initially. However, Antwerp’s Public Prosecutor's Office sought to address these concerns.

Kristof Aerts, a spokesperson for the office, commented last Wednesday that while many speculative theories were circulating on social media, a judicial investigation was underway.

This included input from an investigating judge, public prosecutor, forensic experts, and investigators, which revealed multiple possible scenarios.

Two days later, Aerts provided an update, noting that the autopsy had not yet determined a clear cause of death, leaving all possibilities open.

Despite the man's tied hands and feet, suicide could not be ruled out at that stage.

In the latest update on Thursday morning, the Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office clarified that their analysis of the crime scene and autopsy results has not indicated criminal intent or third-party involvement.
