Health authorities in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) discarded seven tons of meat, poultry, dairy products and juices that are unsafe for human consumption, during the first two weeks of Ramadan.
The head of ASEZA Nayef Bakhit said this came as part of a campaign that aims to ensure foodstuffs that reach citizens are safe and meet all the official specifications.
Bakhit noted that ASEZA takes random food samples on a daily basis to ensure compliance with the approved health specifications.
Bakhit called on citizens not to buy juices, that are popular during Ramadan, from street vendors, but to purchase them from licensed shops.
