Jordan is currently experiencing a new surge in its national tourism sector in terms of visitor numbers and tourism revenue, said the President of the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skills Council at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, Mohammed Al-Qasim.

Qasim underscored the importance of workforce development in tandem with the revival of Jordan's tourism sector, noting that there is a tangible demand in regional markets for professionals and workers in the industry.

He called for a focus on vocational and technical education and training, emphasizing the labor market's need for it.

He also pointed out that many parents prefer academic education.

Qasim told Roya that the sector is witnessing expansion and significant growth, requiring a substantial skilled workforce.

He affirmed that the figures indicate a pressing need for workers in the field.

He emphasized the importance of exploring new forms of tourism, such as "adventure tourism," and mentioned that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is effectively regulating it through its management.

Qasim highlighted the move towards organizing this type of tourism through a training curriculum for workers via training courses, leading to trainers obtaining licenses in this field.

He also stressed the significance of "green investment" in the context of sustainable tourism, calling for investment in the northern regions and the development of tourism infrastructure, in addition to various other investments.

Qasim pointed out that indicators confirm significant investment activity in the northern provinces, indicating a critical need for skilled labor in the tourism sector, thus warranting attention, development, and focus in this area.
