In a statement on X, the US Central Command (USCENTCOM) said, "In the past 24 hours, US Central Command forces successfully destroyed seven Iranian-backed Houthi uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and one ground control station vehicle in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.”

The statement added, "It was determined the UAVs and the ground control station presented an imminent threat to US, coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region. These actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure."

The statement concluded, "This continued malign and reckless behavior by the Iranian-backed Houthis threatens regional stability and endangers the lives of mariners across the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden."

On Friday, the Houthi group claimed responsibility for an attack on a Liberia-flagged ship in the Red Sea. A maritime authority reported that the vessel survived five missiles.
