Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in Ankara on Wednesday.

El-Sisi’s visit marks a historic step toward reconciliation after a decade of strained relations between the two countries. This visit follows a previous meeting between the two leaders in Cairo last February.

Relations between the two leaders have been gradually improving over the past two years, with their positions aligning on several regional issues.

In the joint press conference, Sisi has stressed that the crises affecting the region underscore the need for coordination and cooperation between Egypt and Turkey.

"Our countries share an identical stance in calling for an immediate ceasefire and supporting the Palestinian people's aspirations for an independent state," El-Sisi stated.

During a joint press conference with Erdoğan, El-Sisi highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two nations, particularly in humanitarian aid efforts. He emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and condemned the escalation of “Israeli” actions in the West Bank.

El-Sisi also addressed the current situations in Sudan and the Horn of Africa, underlining the significance of dialogue and cooperation in resolving regional crises.

President Erdoğan, for his part, reaffirmed the strong cooperation between Turkey and Egypt across all sectors, noting the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.

"I am pleased to see the positive outcomes of this cooperation," Erdoğan said.

Erdoğan mentioned that their discussions covered key regional issues, particularly the situation in Gaza. He emphasized that the priority is to stop the massacres in Gaza and achieve a ceasefire.

"Tel Aviv's bombing of Gaza with thousands of tons of explosives is an attempt to subdue the Palestinian people after failing to break their will," he remarked.

The Turkish president further criticized “Israel”, stating, "By killing the negotiator with whom they are negotiating, Tel Aviv has revealed the doctrine driving its policy."

Erdoğan reiterated Turkey's commitment to pursuing accountability for “Israeli” officials responsible for the massacres in Gaza, condemning “Israel's” blockade of aid to Gaza as another crime in its long list of violations.

In his closing remarks, Erdoğan warned that the policies of Netanyahu's government are pushing the region and the world toward danger.
