The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue their aggression against the Gaza Strip for the 188th consecutive day, and on the second of Eid al-Fitr.

Earlier on Wednesday, the IOF assassinated three sons and two grandchildren of Ismail Haniyeh, the senior Hamas leader, in an airstrike that targeted their car in the Shati refugee camp.

The explosion took place, claiming the lives of three of Haniyeh's sons and four of his grandchildren. The fifth grandchild was injured.

"I thank God for this honor with which he honored us with the martyrdom of my three sons and some grandchildren," Hainyeh told Al Jazeera after receiving the news.

Haniyeh added that his family never left Gaza, saying, "Nearly 60 members of my family rose as martyrs, like all the Palestinian people, and there is no difference between them."

Regarding the intent behind the attack, Haniyeh asserted, "The occupation believes that by targeting the children of leaders, it will break the resolve of our people." He countered this notion, stating, "The blood of my children is not more precious than the blood of our martyred people in Gaza. They are all my children."

The IOF, in a joint statement with the Shin Bet, stated that the attack was under intelligence guidance.

Hebrew media considered that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh’s children might negatively affect the negotiations regarding the captive exchange deal.

The total casualties since October 7 to 33,360 martyrs and 75,993 injured, according to the latest death toll announced by Gaza's Ministry of Health.
