The Ministry of Labor has urged employers to protect workers from high temperatures by avoiding direct sunlight exposure, especially between 11 AM and 5 PM.

They emphasized cooling the indoor work environment, providing natural ventilation, supplying cold drinking water, and implementing rest shifts to prevent prolonged continuous work and reduce worker stress.

The Ministry’s Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety advised employers and workers to follow preventive measures during the ongoing heatwave. They highlighted the importance of occupational safety and health measures to prevent heat-related illnesses, such as heat stress, sunstroke, fainting, cramps, skin rashes, and dizziness.

The Directorate emphasized the importance of recognizing the symptoms of heat stress and heatstroke and knowing the appropriate prevention and treatment methods. This involves having medical personnel and occupational safety staff monitor workers and provide first aid when necessary.

For workers themselves, particularly those working under direct sunlight, the Directorate recommended avoiding exposure during peak heat periods, staying hydrated, seeking shaded areas, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, wearing protective gear like hats, and using sunglasses to shield their eyes from the sun.
