In a recent CBS News/YouGov poll released on Sunday, 72 percent of registered voters expressed doubts about US President Joe Biden's mental and cognitive health, questioning his capacity to serve as the head of state effectively.

The survey sparked renewed conversations about whether Biden should continue his presidential campaign.

Notably, 45 percent of Democrats polled believe Biden should consider withdrawing from the race due to concerns about his health.

Former President Donald Trump's mental and cognitive fitness for office was also a point of contention in the poll. Results showed a nearly even split, with 50 percent affirming his fitness and 49 percent disagreeing.

The debate, hosted by CNN, did little to calm anxieties about Biden’s age and cognitive abilities.

Although neither candidate gained a decisive advantage, Biden’s performance amplified the discourse around his readiness for a second term.

In response to the growing concerns, Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy introduced a resolution urging Vice President Kamala Harris to convene the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Under the 25th Amendment, the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet have the authority to declare the president unable to perform his duties, thereby transferring the responsibilities to the vice president.

Roy's resolution argues that Biden "has repeatedly and publicly demonstrated an inability to discharge the powers and duties of the presidency, including the powers and duties of the Commander-in-Chief."
