Jordan's GDP grows in first quarter of 2024

Jordan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by two percent at constant prices during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The quarterly report by the Department of Statistics on Thursday indicated that preliminary estimates showed most economic sectors experienced growth in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The Extractive industries sector achieved the highest growth rate during this period, with an increase of 6.3 percent, contributing 0.18 percentage points to the overall growth rate.

The agriculture sector followed with a growth rate of 5.7 percent, contributing 0.30 percentage points. The electricity and water sector grew by 4.8 percent, contributing 0.07 percentage points, followed by the manufacturing sector, which grew by 3.9 percent, contributing 0.67 percentage points to the overall growth rate.
