His Majesty King Abdullah II inaugurated the new Amman Customs Centre in Al-Madouneh area, southeast of the capital, on Sunday.

The center is poised to streamline procedures, significantly reducing clearance times for goods and thereby lowering import and export costs.

Accompanied by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, His Majesty conducted a comprehensive tour of the sprawling facility, which spans approximately 1,300 dunums and boasts specialized buildings equipped with cutting-edge customs systems.

Finance Minister Mohamad Al-Ississ emphasized the project's strategic significance in bolstering commercial and investment activities within Jordan.

Ississ underscored the center's pivotal role in elevating service standards to meet global benchmarks, thus enhancing Jordan's international economic standing.

Established through a collaborative effort with the private sector in a promising development zone, the facility includes a solar power generation station generating 3,000 kilowatts of electricity, according to Brigadier Jalal Al-Qudah, Director General of the Jordan Customs.

It also features parking facilities capable of accommodating around 900 trucks, with provisions for expanding to accommodate an additional 256 trucks.

Engineer Rima Al-Namr, Director of Amman Customs, highlighted advancements in service automation under the National Single Window project. This initiative aims to streamline customs procedures, thereby fostering an environment conducive to increased investments.
